2012 Chevrolet Sonic – Chevrolet Sonic Production begins later in 2011 at General Motors Orion Assembly Center in Michigan, which received investment of $ 545 million in upgrades and updates, and will help restore about 1,000 jobs in the metropolitan Detroit area. Its two-stage variable intake manifold allows about 90 percent of peak torque available from 2400 rpm to 6500 rpm. It is estimated at 135 horsepower (101 kW), along with 123 lb.-ft. torque (167 Nm) to 3 800 rpm. Chevrolet Sonic model supported by efficient, power-dense, small-displacement engines, including turbo Ecotec 1.4L and 1.8L Ecotec – the same engine used in the new Chevrolet Cruze. Three transmissions are available: a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic with manual six-speed 1.8L and 1.4L with turbo. The 1.4L Ecotec turbo power rating is estimated at 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft. torque (200 Nm) between 1850 rpm and 4900 rpm.
