Opel preparing Astra sport hatch for 2011

2011 Opel’s hatch  upcoming Astra three-door sport is almost identical to the official Opel design sketches. The following is a sketch of the official Opel :

Although details are limited, the sketch suggested sports hatch will feature aggressive styling with large air intakes, LED daytime running, and wheels excited. Car designer, Malcolm Ward, said “This (sport hatch) will be executed very dramatic and very, very close to the sketch. Think about the current three-door and then think about where the new car will go.” Power will most likely be provided by the same engine found in the five-door Astra.

This means we can expect at least three petrol engines including naturally aspirated 1.4-liter, a 1.4-liter turbocharged with 120hp (88kW) to 140hp (103kW), and 1.6-liter turbo with 180hp (132kW). On the diesel side, sports hatch will probably offer up to four different Euro5 compliant engines, with outputs starting from 95PS to 160PS. Finally, high performance Opel Astra OPC (Vauxhall Astra VXR and) will be launched, but so far very little is known about this model.
